every time I click for a new background it takes me back to my page without changing. it dont save or anything. as soon as i click say the red background it immediately takes me to my page without changing.
"Cannot change the background on the new Beta". You are person
# 3 to point this out. Perhaps it is another glitch I should add to my
list of crappy things about "Beta". I've said it before, I'll say it again:

If you like YouTube bugs, errors, faults, and glitches, you are going
to absolutely fall in love with the new "channel 2.0 Beta":

→ your number of videos & favorites are totally missing
→ every thumbnail is either tiny or covers up everything
→ the "time duration" of every video is completely gone
→ most of the video titles are hidden by their thumbnail
→ every video thumb has no time-stamp or upload date
→ view counts have totally vanished from those thumbs
→ people can see only your last 3 videos (18 grid view)
→ also, YouTubers cred youtube backgroundsan only watch your last 3 favorites
→ the "scrolling" function is missing on many channels
→ there's a delay to everything, especially in "grid view"
→ all videos in that "grid view" are actually "unclickable"
→ there is no possibility to choose your "featured video"
→ any playlists/vlogs show no descriptions whatsoever
→ it's impossible to send messages from your channel
→ you CAN'T move boxes around like your old channel
→ the links that are in your channel are "non-functional"
→ background colors are only solid, (never transparent)
→ in fact, background images are now entirely useless

are wrong (nevermind all the things which have crept up since then):

1. Sign in and click 'Account' (in the upper right corner ored youtube backgroundsf the page).
2. Click the large blue 'My Account' link in the top left hand corner of the screen.
3. From the 'My Account' drop-down menu, select the ''My Channel'' option.
4. In the left hand navigation section, click 'Channel Design'.
5. Under Advanced Design Customization section locate the 'Background Image' section, and click the 'Browse' button.
6. Find an image that you'd like to appear as your Channel's background and select the file.
7. Don't forget to click the 'Update Channel' button to save your changes!
8. You can then click the 'View your public channel' hyperlink (in the top right hand corner of the page) to see the edits you made on your channel.

The image you've uploaded should be viewable within 6 hours.
