i have heard that there are good sites out there but i just cant seem to find them
Yes, there are several, though not all of them license images the same way.
The two I use the most are:
Stock Exchange (www.sxc.hu)
RGBstock (wwpublic domain sitew.rgbstock.com)
Both of these are free to download, hi res, and completely royalty free.
Additionally, you might want to check out Morgue Files (The name makes it sound gruesome, but it's an ancient design term), DeviantArt, andpublic domain site Flickr.
Also, check out different design blogs for resources, they'll usually post links to good sites for free images.
