i have the free avast antivirus software the one with the free one year liceanc i have bean noticing that people are saying to get malwarebytes with it so if u know if that makes the AV work better or the combo gives u a much better chance of catching a virus trying to harm ur system please answer.
The free Avast license allows you to use it as a traditional AV scanner, where it checks files as they're accessed whether read or write. The free version of MalwareBytes onlfree avast antivirus softwarey performs on-demand scanning, meaning that you have to tell it to perform a scan (the paid version performs continuous scanning).
Never combine two or more AV software which perform continuous scanning. They utilize (by design and necessity) many of the same techniques that viruses use to hide from the OS and block infections. In doing so, they can conflict with each other, preventing either from seeing malware that is infecting the system.
You can use the MalwareBytefree avast antivirus softwares on-demand scanner along with Avast, but it shouldn't be necessary as Avast is one of the better engines out there, and MalwareBytes is unlikely to see anything that Avast missed.
If you want free then I recommend Avast , superantispyware and Malwarebytes. coupled with Comodo firewall They are all free for personal use . It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly.
